I was skeptical about this one.
A chickpea stew with coconut and turmeric didn’t exactly sound like something I was going to be obsessed with, but I am very happy to say that I was completely wrong. This was so good.
The recipe is from The New York Times Cooking, and even my husband — who is very much not a soup or stew person — was raving about it. So, I think that says a lot.
It’s cozy, flavorful, and just the kind of dinner I want when I’m craving something comforting but still full of good things. And apparently, it’s also the kind of recipe that can turn a non-stew person into a stew person.

Kitchen things I love
- Garlic press – genuinely can’t live without it.
- Cutting board – you know I’m in love with my new ones.
- Soup bowls – so pretty.
